Pleasantview 7/11/20

Today we will visit Lila Ottomas and her son Gavin Jacquet.  Lila has had an interesting past.  She was initially a townie who Gilbert Jacquet hired to work as a cashier at his bakery.  Gilbert was married to Mary-Sue Pleasant at the time, but that didn't stop him from pursuing Lila and having an affair with her.  Since Mary-Sue was quite a bit older than Gilbert, she died not long after the affair began and Gilbert wasted no time in marrying Lila.  They had three kids together: Ella and twins Gavin and Ryan.  By the time the twins were born, Gilbert himself was rather old and he died when they were just babies.  Let to raise three small children on her own, Lila went out and found herself a new man in the form of townie Gary Hourvitz.  What Lila didn't know was that Gary was a Criminal Mastermind.  He managed to avoid prison for a little while by paying for high priced lawyers, but was ultimately sentenced to 30 days.  Lila was on her own again.  However, before he left Gary had started restoring cars for the twins, which Lila decided to finish for them.  She discovered she was quite handy with a wrench and even after the boys' cars were done, she continued to restore and sell cars for extra cash.  Her kids eventually grew up and moved out and Lila dated a number of different men before deciding Keith Ottomas (son of Peter and Samantha) was the one for her.  Unfortunately, she was still married to Gary, so Keith moved in and they had to wait until Gary got out for Lila to secure a divorce.  They were both elders by the time they married and I expected they'd finish their lives together, but then Lila was unexpectedly bitten by a vampire* and everything changed.  Keith died of old age, but Lila is still here, still restoring cars, still looking for Mr. Right.  Her daughter is an elder now as well, with three kids, and her sons are less than a week away from elderhood.  Gavin moved back in with Lila after his marriage broke up.  He has a son (Ricky) who lives with his ex, but they're still very close.  After moving home, Gavin bought the local farmer's market, which is slowly growing and beginning to turn a profit.  That's good news because he had to take out a pretty hefty business loan to buy the place.  Gavin hasn't given up on love (he's like his mom that way), but the women he's been dating lately haven't been too serious about settling down, so he's still looking.

*You may be wondering how so many people keep "accidentally" becoming vampires.  Here's what happened.  Way back when I was trying to get my first ever vampire, I read on the forums that you could do it easily by having another sim influence the Grand Vampire to bite the sim you wanted turned.  I thought it sounded great and tried it out.  Sure enough, it worked like a charm.  What I didn't know at the time was that doing so would cause what I like to call "Vamps Gone Wild" to occur, in which the Grand Vamps bite everyone in sight every chance they get.  It's not just the sims I'm controlling or even just playable sims, it's everyone from townies to NPCs, literally anyone who shows up on a Downtown lot at night is fair game.  Now they don't do it constantly; it kind of comes in waves.  They'll be really active for a while, then back off for a period of time, then it's back on again.  Consequently, I end up leaving a household where no one is a vampire and coming back to it the next round to find someone's been vamped.  Now I know it's easy enough to cure vampirism, but in Pleasantview sims have to play the cards they're dealt, so no cures for anyone.  Unfortunately, my Grand Vamps seem to have sick senses of humor and especially like turning elder sims, which I hate, but I deal with it.  When it comes to sims like Lila who have such interesting lives, I really don't mind that much.

Happy Simming!
