Jared Starchild is a premade Uni student who now lives in the Hyde Park trailer park (actually Main St. Mobile because reasons). His trailer is tiny, but cheap, so he can save most of his money. He has a good job in Natural Science, so I dare say he'll be moving on to bigger and better things in time. Unfortunately, his only love interest was Sam Thomas, who we learned was preparing to join the commune, so he'll likely need to look elsewhere for companionship.
Allegra and Jimmy Phoenix are premade Uni students who got married and moved to Hyde Park after graduation. Jimmy works in Athletic and Allegra is temporarily working in Adventure, but really wants to be a Criminal. They live in a small one bedroom trailer. I was worried I wouldn't be able to fit a crib in when their first child was born this round, but of course that wasn't the problem, because as usually happens in my game when sims are broke/live in small spaces, they had TWO new babies. I did manage to get the cribs in just barely, but they'll need a bigger place very soon. There is a two bedroom trailer available, so maybe they can move there.
Bryce Futa is the final Hyde Park resident. His parents are Alvin and Tosha Futa; he has one brother. Bryce was not a good student in high school and therefore did not earn a high school diploma. That really sucks for him, considering his LTW job of Journalism requires not only that, but also a college degree. Bryce will need to earn an online GED and a degree before taking a job in Journalism. He unfortunately does not have the money to pay for online classes just yet, so he has taken a job in Athletics. He'll save up and eventually work his way through his online courses.
Next up we have the homeless shelter, which is a place I built to help struggling sims get back on their feet. It's technically an apartment lot, but I consider all the sims to be living in the same household (much like the orphanage). I have Servo placeholders living in each unit, leaving space for seven other sims in each unit (times four that's 28 sims altogether). Each unit is a single room that contains little more than beds/cribs, a bookcase, and a phone. There's a cafeteria and communal bathrooms for everyone to share. While a sim is living in the homeless shelter they do not need to pay for rent, bills, or food. Anything beyond basic necessities is their own responsibility. The sims currently living here are as follows:
Melissa Fancey is a former townie, who has five children altogether, but only two live here with her. Her three oldest children (Jason and twins Clarissa and Cybil) remained with their father (Luc Young) when they broke up. (Jason is still living with his dad, while the twins are away at boarding school.) Melissa had her own apartment for a time, but a one night stand with Goopy GilsCarbo made her the mother of another set of twins: Cheyenne and Dalton. She was unable to keep up with the rent and bills, while also raising two kids on her own, and so ended up here. She was actually doing quite well for a while (she'd nearly saved enough money to move her family to a small apartment), however being turned into a vampire put a crimp in her plans. She had to spend a large amount of her savings on a coffin and now must begin the arduous process of saving up again. Luckily this round the twins aged up to teen and can therefore get jobs to help out.
Ricky Cormier is a former townie who was involved in a long term relationship with Sasha Dreamer. When they broke up, he fell on hard times (he was in and out of prison a few times) and ultimately wound up here. He'd like to work in Culinary, but since that hasn't come up, he's working Adventure. He doesn't have nearly enough cash to leave yet, but he's trying to make the best of things.
Monica Bratford is a premade Uni student, who found herself without a place to live after graduation. She had few friends at Uni and when they all paired up and moved on, Monica was left behind. She also has a student loan to pay, so the shelter is where she needs to be right now. Unfortunately for Monica, two very bad things have happened to her. First she was turned into a vampire, meaning she had to buy a coffin and struggle to stay alive while working a day job. Second, she found her LTW career of Criminal in the paper this round, which means she will likely spend time in jail at some point, which if you'll recall turned out to be a death sentence for fellow vampire Alon Broke. She has a few days before anything will happen, but with her student loan sucking up all her money, it's unlikely she'll have the money for a good lawyer when the time comes.
Once upon a time Andrzej Greaves was a successful Scientist, married to a lovely woman, and living in a nice house. Times have changed. After his marriage broke up, Andrzej turned to a life of crime and spent some time in prison. When he finally got out, he had no job, no family, and nowhere to go but here. As an elder he's working a part-time job in Architecture and very slowly trying to save up enough money to get out of his current situation, but there's a good chance he'll die here.
Jessie Pilferson (a premade Uni student) came here right after graduation. I'm not sure why, given she has three boyfriends she could have moved in with. I guess she'd rather be homeless than actually commit to one of them? I honestly don't recall. In any event, she's working in Show Biz while waiting for a job in Music. She also has chemistry with basically every guy who lives here, so she might pick up another boyfriend or two before she leaves.
Max Flexor (another Uni sim) also came here straight from college. The love of his life (probably not because sims are fickle) Roxie Sharpe had moved in with Jonah Powers and Max was devastated by it. (Now that Jonah and Roxie broke up maybe there's hope?) He works in Law Enforcement, though he wants to be a Politician. He can't get into Politics until he at least starts working on his masters, but there are no computers on the lot, even if he could afford it. I'm not sure why he didn't complete his masters while he was at Uni (most sims do), maybe he tried but didn't finish? Anyway, he got a promotion this round, which will really help him get going out of here.
Moon Broke is the daughter of Lynn Broke and Armando Ottomas. She was born on the commune and has never met her father or her three siblings. She's very close to her cousin Blaze, but since he managed to earn enough scholarship money to get him into Uni, he wasn't an option as a living situation when Moon left the commune. So here she is at the shelter, trying to earn some money in the Gaming career, and learning about life in the real world.
And that's it for the shelter residents. Up next, Parkview Condos.
Sage Dreamer is the alien daughter of Drake Dreamer. She has five known siblings and lives in a very nice apartment at Parkview Condos. She's working in her LTW job of Military and doing very well. She can't seem to find a love interest, though she does have two bolts with Martin Dreamer (technically no relation since he's a plant sim and therefore only the child of Myra and not the child of Sage's brother Evan), so that might turn into something. This is one of the reasons I'm making changes to relationship and family structure rules, to prevent these semi-incestuous relationships from happening. Although with plant sims it's bound to happen eventually anyway.
Also living at Parkview are Charles Grundstrom and Chloe Despret. Charles is the son of Stephen Landgraab and Tess Grundstrom; he has ten siblings, mostly younger. Chloe is a former dormie. Charles is an Athlete and Chloe a Dancer. This round they welcomed their first child, Robert. Charles' dad Stephen happened to be visiting at the time and therefore got to witness the birth of his first grandchild.
Alan Korman is a recently divorced vampire with three kids. His ex-wife retained custody and he moved to Parkview Condos, where he works in the Journalism career and paints in his spare time. He's nowhere near wealthy, but he gets by. No sign of a new lady love though. Time will tell.
And that wraps up Downtown! Next up will be Bluewater Village which is reserved for my legacy families, of which there are currently only two, so it should go quickly. After that, the round is over and we return to the beginning and Uni.
Until next time, Happy Simming!
