Victorian Population Challenge 4/11/22

Trade #2 Whitlock:  Current household members are: Liam & Chastity (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - adults), Oliver (Gen 3 Heir - adult), Owen (Gen 3 - teen), Brendan (Gen 3 - teen), Erin (Gen 3 - child), and Dylan (Gen 3 - toddler).  Siobhan moved out and Chastity is pregnant with #8.  Business is starting to pick up and finances are in better shape as Summer comes to a close.  Oliver is officially in the market for a wife, who must be from Trade class, as he is not allowed to marry below his class.  I'm thinking of allowing Trade class heirs to invite over eligible ladies for a Sunday brunch function as a means of selecting a bride.  The rules don't have any specific guidelines on how matches are to be formed, but so far I've just been having the girls at the girls' home invite over bachelors on the weekends and then just see who pairs up.  Since Trade heirs are restricted in their selections, however, I think the brunch idea could help.  Household bank balance is $2502/$100,000.

Trade #3 Stanbury:  Current household members are: Thomas & Joy (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - adults), Robert & Leila (Gen 3 Heir/Wife - adults), James (Gen 3 - teen), Sarah (Gen 3 - teen), and Mary (Gen 3 - child).  Damon and Toby moved out, Joy is too old to have more children, and Leila is pregnant with her first child.  Joy has plenty of time to devote to her sewing, now that Leila is here and Sarah is a teen.  I was thinking of having someone own a clothing store, but since home businesses can't have the clothing racks, I don't think that would work too well.  So, I think I'll have Joy add some custom clothing to their stock instead.  Leila still has a long way to go to catch up to Joy in terms of sewing skill, but hopefully Joy will be around for a good long while still.  Household bank balance is $7857/$100,000.

And that concludes the Summer round y'all!  I'm planning to play through Fall at least, so there should be more updates coming in a couple weeks.  I have so many singles that I'm hoping to pair up in the Fall, which will probably mean a lot of building, so it may take a little longer than usual to play through the season.  Until then, Happy Simming!

Victorian Population Challenge 4/10/22

Sub Farm #9 Whitlock:  Current household members are: Conrad & Claudia (Gen 2 - adults), Henry (Gen 3 Heir - child), and Virginia (Gen 3 - toddler).  Claudia is pregnant with #3.  Not much to report here.  Both Conrad and Claudia are working almost round the clock to keep up with the farm, the household and the kids.  Conrad is also fishing as much as possible to bring in extra cash for purchasing needed furniture.  They haven't yet been able to afford to buy any sort of bench, so that Claudia can also bring in some income.  Household bank balance is $48/$50,000.

Sub Farm #10 Godwin:  Current household members are: Lee & Bess (Gen 2 - adults) and Susan (Gen 3 - toddler).  Bess is expecting their second child.  Lee's crop is looking good and he's been able to fish enough to supplement the family finances so that they can gradually add things to the farm or the house.  They'll soon need a bed for Susan, so they're trying not to let their money get too low.  Possibly when the harvest comes in Fall, he'll be able to afford three more fruit trees as well.  Household bank balance is $274/$50,000.

Trade #1 Hopkins:  Current household members are: Nathaniel & Johanna (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - elder/adult), Elsa (Gen 3 - teen), Andrew (Gen 3 Heir - child), Hannah (Gen 3 - toddler), Cecilia (Gen 3 - toddler), Zachary (Gen 3 - toddler), and Wesley (Gen 3 - baby).  Elsie finally passed on at the age of 82, Eve and Olivia moved out, and though Johanna is still technically able to conceive, there won't be room in the household until Elsa leaves home, at which point Johanna will be too old.  Long story short, Wesley will be the last baby.  Fun fact: none of those toddlers are twins!!  Johanna just decided to make the most of the time bug and have them all one day apart.  In other news, the time bug makes running a home business an absolute nightmare.  The customers come in, look at an item for a few seconds, then drop the interaction and just hang out all day chatting or playing catch amongst themselves.  They never buy anything.  Consequently, Nathaniel has a fully stocked shop and no way to earn a living.  So, I've had to make some adjustments.  I still have Nathaniel open the shop every day and do any "May I help you?" interactions that he can.  Since his wholesale perks are now all but useless, I allowed him to take the first two cash perks, and if he achieves rank 10 (which is unlikely because if there's a fight or a fire, customers lose like a million stars in ten seconds) I'll let him take the third one.  Other than that, I've got Johanna parked at the flower station all day and night, making snapdragons which I sell directly from inventory.  I think this will counteract Nathaniel's inability to make any sales and eventually they'll be able to rank up.  Still holding out hope that the bug will fix itself, as it did in a previous household.  Fingers crossed.  Household bank balance is $49,902/$100,000.

That's it for today.  Tomorrow we should be finishing up the Summer round with the remaining two Trade households.  Happy Simming!

Victorian Population Challenge 4/9/22

Sub Farm #6 Hayward:  Current household members are: Curtis & Charlotte (Gen 2 - adults), Justine (Gen 3 - teen), Ruby (Gen 3 - teen), River (Gen 3 Heir - child), Oliver (Gen 3 - child), and Albert (Gen 3 - child).  Victoria moved to the girls' home and Charlotte is pregnant with baby #7.  Given the slow time bug, she should've given birth by now, but she hasn't, so who knows when she will.  Financially, they've made quite a leap since last season, thanks to the harvest, the teens' jobs, and Charlotte earning her gold pottery badge, which allows her to make the very profitable amphora.  Household bank balance is $11,328/$50,000.

Sub Farm #7 Godwin:  Current household members are: Finn & Violet (Gen 2 - adults), Declan (Gen 3 Heir - adult), Greta (Gen 3 - teen), Hazel (Gen 3 - child), Maureen (Gen 3 - child), and Duncan (Gen 3 - toddler).  Violet is expecting her sixth child.  Violet has been able to put in more time sewing now that Greta is a teen and can help out more with the younger children.  Greta is also holding down a teen job to bring in some extra cash.  The Summer harvest was substantial, allowing for the purchase of needed household furnishings with plenty to spare.  Household bank balance is $4013/$50,000.

Sub Farm #8 Hayward:  Current household members are: Julian & Esme (Gen 2 - adults), Saul (Gen 3 Heir - teen), Dana (Gen 3 - child), Julia (Gen 3 - child), and Marla (Gen 3 - toddler).  Esme is pregnant with baby #5.  Esme has been having some tough pregnancies, so she hasn't been able to do much flower arranging for extra cash.  Also, since Saul is not allowed to have a job, there is no extra money coming in from teen jobs.  Consequently, the family finances are scraping bottom at the moment.  Julian will need to do some fishing while they wait for the Fall harvest.  Household bank balance is $164/$50,000.

Happy Simming!

Victorian Population Challenge 4/8/22

Sub Farm #3 Hayward:  Current household members are: Noah & Grace (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - elders), Abraham & Amelia (Gen 3 Heir/Wife - adults), Robin (Gen 3 - child), Camilla (Gen 3 - child), and Paula (Gen 4 - baby).  Ezra and Maxwell moved out.  Our first baby of generation four was born was born and Amelia is pregnant for the second time.  Between the harvest and the ladies working overtime on that flower bench, the Haywards are nearly ready to level up to Trade.  There was some sad news, however.  Noah and Grace's second son, Eli, contracted the flu while living at the workhouse and did not survive it.  Household bank balance is $48,355/$50,000.

Sub Farm #4 Hayward:  Current household members are: Levi (Gen 2 - adult), James (Gen 3 Heir - adult), Caleb (Gen 3 - teen), Juliet (Gen 3 - child), and Seth (Gen 3 - child).  Matthew moved out and Elizabeth died at the age of 56 from the flu.  Despite the sadness of losing their matriarch, the Haywards were able to expand their farm to its maximum productivity.  James has a potential romantic match in Louise Godwin.  Caleb, the only teen, is working as a Criminal for extra cash.  Unfortunately, they've lost the pottery income Elizabeth was bringing in.  When James marries, his wife will take over that task.  Until then, this household of mostly bachelors will continue to plug along as best they can.  Household bank balance is $4460/$50,000.

Sub Farm #5 Godwin:  Current household members are: Emory & Caroline (Gen 2 - adults), Hardy (Gen 3 Heir - adult), Joan (Gen 3 - teen), Willis (Gen 3 - child), Daniella (Gen 3 - toddler), and Jasper (Gen 3 - baby).  Georgianna and Emmett moved out and Caroline is pregnant with her tenth and final child.  Hardy has joined the wife hunt, but no luck so far.  They had a decent harvest, despite the waterlogged crops, and are financially stable now.  Caroline made a few toys and Joan is contributing with a teen job, as well as helping with all the younger children.  Household bank balance is $7057/$50,000.

See you tomorrow with more Sub Farm updates.  Happy Simming!

Victorian Population Challenge 4/7/22

Sub Farm #1 Godwin:  Current household members are:  Silas & Matilda (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - elders), Adolph (Gen 3 Heir - adult), Milo (Gen 3 - child), and Patricia (Gen 3 - child).  Lucius, Emil, and Addie all moved out.  The Summer harvest was quite lucrative for the Godwins.  They will likely rank up this Fall.  Adolph has not yet found a wife, but his best prospect at the moment is Olivia Hayward, who has been avoiding marriage for most of her adult life.  In fact, if she doesn't choose someone during the next round of social calls at the girls' home, she'll be off the marriage market for good, as she'll be too old to be a viable candidate.  If she chooses Adolph, it'll mean an almost immediate change in status to Trade, but they'll have very little time to produce an heir before she becomes too old.  On the other hand, if they don't produce an heir, since Adolph is significantly younger than Olivia, once she dies he'll be able to marry again and try for an heir.  If she doesn't choose him, however, he has no other prospects.  We'll see what happens.  Household bank balance is $44,211/$50,000.

Sub Farm #2 Godwin:  Current household members are: Oliver & Louise (Gen 2 - adults), Quentin (Gen 3 Heir - adult), Charlotte (Gen 3 - teen), Elizabeth (Gen 3 - teen), Annabelle (Gen 3 - child), and Cordelia (Gen 3 - child).  Sadly, Violet passed away from heat exhaustion.  Louise is currently pregnant with her 7th child.  Now that Quentin is grown, he'll be in the market for a wife asap.  He doesn't have any really good prospects though, so it may be a while.  Household bank balance is $3197/$50,000.

That's all for today.  Happy Simming!

Victorian Population Challenge 4/6/22

Now that Summer is coming to a close, it's time for an update on the families of Victoria's Peak.

Poor #1 Stanbury:  Current household members are: Raymond & Marie (Gen 2 - adults), Ginevra (Gen 3 - child), Norman (Gen 3 Heir - child), Matthew (Gen 3 - toddler), and Sophie (Gen 3 - toddler).  Four children, as expected, and Marie is now too old to have another.  In a surprising turn of events, the household seems to have recovered from the slow time bug (this has never happened to me before!!) and things are moving along as normal now.  I'm sure Marie is thrilled by the news that it slowed down just long enough to make her give birth a couple more times, but I'm just happy to learn that it can reverse itself.  It means there's hope for the other affected households.  In other news, Raymond finally earned a much-needed promotion and they were able to buy some things they needed for the house.  Household bank balance is $99/$50,000.

Poor #2 Vacant

Poor #3 Baldwin:  Current household members are: Hart & Josie (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - elder/adult), Lucy (Gen 3 - teen), August (Gen 3 Heir - child), Honey (Gen 3 - child), and Bree (Gen 3 - toddler).  Josie is pregnant with the couple's fifth child.  Hart is still working on that promotion.  He's not there yet, but he's getting incrementally closer every day.  Maybe by the end of Fall he'll have achieved it.  Lucy is old enough to have a job now as well, so that'll help too.  Josie earned her silver pottery badge this Summer, so she's earning more than before also.  They're getting there, slowly but surely.  Household bank balance is $39,239/$50,000.

Poor #4 Hopkins:  Current household members are: Henry & Alice (Gen 2 - adults), Herman (Gen 3 Heir - adult), Julian (Gen 3 - teen), Derek (Gen 3 - child), and Olive (Gen 3 - baby).  Adelaide moved out and Alice is too old for any more children.  If you're wondering where Rose is, let me explain.  This house has become the glitchiest one to date in the history of my game.  Not only has it developed the slow time bug, but spontaneous combustion has become a serious problem as well.  Not only do household objects sometimes randomly burst into flames, but sometimes it's the sims themselves who catch fire.  The issue began in mid-Summer and so far has claimed three victims: a paper girl, townie teen Marsha Bruenig, and Rose, who was only a child.  Henry also was killed once, but Alice managed to successfully plead for his life.  She wasn't so lucky with poor little Rose.  I don't know if this glitch is tied to the house, a particular sim, the season, or what, but it may be the death (quite literally) of this family.  A third, equally annoying though less deadly, issue is that baby Olive has now frozen up twice while trying to age her up with the cake and had to be deleted and reset.  Hopefully she'll age up at some point and I can adjust by sending her off to Uni a few days early to make up for it, but who knows with this household.  She may just be a permanent baby until she spontaneously combusts.  Household bank balance is $10,903/$50,000.

That's it for Poor families.  We'll start on Sub Farmers next.  Until then, Happy Simming!
