I'm back with an update on the Royal Kingdom! I have made some changes, most notably: I have added two new social classes, Gentry (between Nobles and Merchants) and Serfs (between Merchants and Peasants), a new community gardening/fishing/mining area has been added, and a military barracks was added so that sims can now become knights. I'll explain these new rules as I go along. For now, we begin with the Royal Family.
The Royal servant Duncan will be the owner of the Community Garden, the purpose of which is to provide jobs to the Serfs and income to the Crown. I had him go down there and stay on the lot until he got each type of crop planted and I was hoping I could get everything to be at the harvest stage at the same time, but it didn't quite work out. The fruit trees will lose their fruit eventually if you don't harvest them and the tomato plants, which were planted first, died for some reason, though I'm not sure if it was lack of water or from not being harvested. At any rate, Duncan will have to go down to the lot periodically, I suppose, to keep things going, but it's pretty close to what I was hoping for, so I'm not going to complain too much. I'll explain more of how the garden works when I get to the new Serf families.
As for the actual Royals, we lost all three elders this round, Caroline (twin sister of King James) at age 65, King James himself the next day at age 66, and Winifred (wife of King James) the following day at age 68. They have been properly laid to rest at the Royal Cemetery. This leaves only King Arthur, his twin Gwendolyn, and Duncan in residence. As Duncan has reached the halfway mark on his life bar, the Royals will need a new servant stat. My new rules require them to take a servant from the Serf class but, since I won't have any available Serfs for a bit, I'm going to allow them another Peasant servant in the interim.
That's it for today! Happy Simming!
