Spring Valley 4/3/24

100 Chapel Hill:  Mayor Curtis Johnson has big plans for the town of Spring Valley.  His first order of business was to appoint a council to help run things.  He chose one man from each district to be a councilman: his brother Clay to represent the farmers, Brody Jefferson for the grove owners, Charles Ford for the fishermen, David Adams to represent business owners, and Norman Ford for the miners.  The councilmen will receive a small payment each season for their services.  The first decision made by Curtis and his council was to use a section of land behind the church to hold a winter festival, where townspeople can celebrate together, get to know one another, and have some fun.  In order to pay for the construction of the fairgrounds, however, the mayor had to impose property taxes on the residents of Spring Valley, which will come due the first of spring.  In the meantime, he secured a loan to pay for the initial building needed on the land.  He has many other ideas for improving the town but wants to focus on getting the loan paid back first.  On a personal note, Curtis used some of his own funds to replace the furnishings that were stolen/repossessed from his brother's home, and he has officially begun plans for his wedding to Tabitha Adams.

100 Grove Rd:  Ezra had a slightly larger apple harvest for fall, allowing him to sell just a few apples to the general store in addition to his mother's flowers.  They'll have a pretty decent payment coming in just in time for winter to set in.  Ezra's younger sister Violet is planning her wedding to Norman Ford, the newly appointed mine overseer, so she'll be leaving the nest soon.  The whole family is looking forward to the Winter Festival that was announced by the mayor.  They hear they'll be games and a cooking competition.

Happy Simming!
