BACC 4/30/21

Finally I'm finished playing the Kekahis (Lot #1).  I had so much trouble towards the end of the week with the twins getting overheated and nearly getting taken by the social worker that I ended up playing the weekend three times!  Anyway...nothing much happened business-wise, since both shops are rank 10.  Davon only went in on Wednesday, when Ryan could accompany him.  Andrew skipped school to run the flower shop on Tuesday and Thursday.  He earned a bronze flower badge in the process.  Career-wise, Ryan topped the Culinary career, which means Culinary is now unlocked for everyone.  Adrienne only needs one more promotion (I think) to top Architecture, but there's no real benefit to her doing so.  She spent a great deal of time skilling, but still did not even come close to getting all the skills she needs.  It didn't help that she got the skills on some of the previous plays, but didn't on the final play.

Wednesday was a big birthday since Ryan was aging to elder, Jordan to teen, and the twins to child.  Later in the week, Davon also became an elder and Andrew aged to adult.  Andrew had a teens only party to celebrate, inviting his girlfriend Raven, some of his cousins, and some other friends.  No sooner had Andrew grown up, than Raven immediately moved on with his cousin Eli - they're in crush now.  Told you that girl would be popular, lol.  I'm not really sure what I want to do with Andrew, apart from running Lei Fleur.  With the business at rank 10, it won't need much attention, but I'm at a loss about what to have him do.  His LTW is for Journalism, which isn't available yet, and his hobby is sports, but Athletic is not open either.  So I don't know, we'll see.  The twins will become teens next week and I can't wait.

Taxes for Week 13 were $10,359.00, bringing the total to $51,268.00.

No stats changes.

*The distinction between households and residential lots is to account for apartment lots.  An apartment lot could contain up to 4 households, but it only counts as one residential lot.  Building unowned community lots depends on the number of households, but the Architecture career depends on the total number of lots.

**Four sims have actually died, however since founder Keanu Kekahi's grave was destroyed, there are only three real graves present in the 'hood.  Incidentally, it's the Paranormal career that depends on the number of graves.

***This position is available only to Daniel Drew.

BACC 4/29/21

The final household of the round is Daniel Drew, who I've been trying to get into the Gamer career via owning the proper electronics.  By the end of the week, Daniel had indeed saved up enough to buy the rest of the items he needed, however the job did not come up.  The only other annoying interesting thing that happened was that Daniel became the very first sim to be robbed.  Luckily, his electronics were in his inventory at the time, the burglar didn't get those.  She did, however, get his robot bench, so now he's back to digging and fishing.  I didn't want to spend the money to replace the bench, but I will as soon as he gets a job in Gaming and can afford it.

Daniel's taxes came to $802.00, bringing the total to $40,909.00.

There were no changes to stats or careers, except that Daniel is conditionally allowed to take a job in the Gamer career.  The job is not available to any other sims in the neighborhood.

And that's it for Week 12 on Kahua Island.  I've been reading some BACCs recently and noticed that a lot of people do a round summary at the end of a round, so I think I'm going to try that out.  I'll post it separately in between rounds.  Happy Simming!

BACC 4/28/21 Part 2

Mckenna Lane got her dance studio up and running by Friday, though it still isn't quite finished.  She didn't rank up yet, so she's still at rank 0 for now.  Maya earned several promotions in Business, finishing the week at Vice President.  Though most of the money the family brought it went to building the studio, at the end of the week, after paying their taxes, they had some money left to work on the house.  The main floor and exterior structure are more of less done, leaving the bedrooms, bathrooms, and landscaping still to be worked on.

Though Maya and Daniel Drew continue to be friendly, neither made a move towards anything romantic.  Mckenna took that as a sign that her sister wasn't interested and proceeded to seduce Daniel herself.  They're now in love, though Mckenna being a Romance sim, is not really interested in being tied down and hasn't rolled any wants for him since they spent the night together.  We'll see how Daniel feels when he gets played.  Brady is romantically involved with Emma Hastings and friends with Cherry and Eli Kekahi, Andrew Wheeler, Raven Collins, and Wyatt Hastings.  He threw a party on Friday and invited them all over; it was a good time, but no new romances happened.  If you're wondering what Shane was doing this week, it was mostly failing to dig up any good treasures and then passing on towards the end of the week.  At least he left his family a nice inheritance when he died.  RIP Shane.

Taxes were $3,534.00, bringing the total to $40,107.00.

BACC 4/28/21

Ivy Kekahi was focused on getting Kahua Junction up and running this week.  Between everyone digging for treasure and the job income of the other three adults in the household, she managed to get at least the bar section finished enough to start serving customers.  There's still work to be done, but she ranked up to level 1, by the end of the week.  Randy continued to struggle in Law Enforcement, getting a promotion only to get demoted again.  At least getting re-promoted brings in extra cash for the pub.

On the personal front, Marina did get pregnant finally and gave birth to a little girl (Megan) just one day after Ivy gave birth to a baby boy (Ian).  Both kids aged up to toddler near the end of the week, followed by Kalen and Marina aging to elder on the last day.  Marina wanted to have another baby, but was too old; Kalen did not roll the want for another, despite his wife being plenty young enough to accomplish it.  Maybe he's standing in solidarity with his sister.  Ivy and Randy are not Family sims, so they don't seem to care either way.  I did find it interesting that three of the twins' siblings had a set of twins, but the twins themselves did not.

On a side note, Ivy was struck by lightning one afternoon while digging for treasure in a thunderstorm, bringing the electrocution tally to three, which opened up a position in the Science career.  Good job not dying Ivy.

Their tax debt was $3,882.00, bringing the community total to $36,573.00.

BACC 4/26/21

Brenna Centowski got Hulu a Lomi up to rank 10 this week, earning back the third position in Business that was lost by her brother Markus when his restaurant dipped below 10.  She took some time to train her cashier up to management status and then hired a masseuse to replace herself, so that she can now run the shop remotely for the most part.  She'll still go in from time to time.  I'm not really sure at this point who is going to take over the business, since neither of the boys seems to fit very well.  One of them wants to be a cop, while the other has a non-job related LTW, I don't remember which is which, but it may come down to that as a deciding factor.

Both Brenna and Orlando aged up to elder this week, within a few days of one another.  The day before she aged up, Brenna finally rolled that want for a baby that I'd been expecting, but of course it was too late for that.  The boys did not bring a single friend home from school all week, which I found strange.  They did hang out with some of their cousins at their parents' birthday parties.  I've discovered that Reed does not get along with his cousin Jackson at all and Robert is not fond of his cousin Andrew either.  Dakota Hastings came by on the weekend and she and Reed became best friends, but nothing romantic.  Both boys have chemistry with Raven Collins and neither is interested in Emma Hastings.

The Centowskis paid $7,827.00 in taxes, bringing the total collected to $32,691.00.

No stats or career changes except the addition of the third Business position.  Up next, the Kekahi/London household.  Happy Simming!

BACC 4/25/21

Chase Collins made significant progress with his business this week.  While he only ranked up to level 3, he did make enough money to enclose the building and add some artwork for viewing only, turning his roadside stand into a true gallery.  When it reaches rank 5 a spot in the Artist career will open up, but it will be useless since no one can get a degree yet.  Someday...

The family only celebrated one birthday this week - Ethan became a teen.  He has two bolts for Dakota Hastings, but they're just friends for now.  She did call him a couple of times and stopped by autonomously on the weekend, so she may be looking for something more.  Raven continued dating Andrew Wheeler, though she has boltage for nearly every teen boy in town (one bolt for Andrew, as well as Wyatt Hastings, two for Brady Lane, Eli Kekahi, and Reed Centowski, and three for Jackson Kekahi and Robert Centowski) so it's anyone's game at this point.

I'm thinking that Ethan will be the one to take over his father's business, since he already has 7 creativity points and his hobby is nature, which I think goes better with painting and artsy things than Raven's hobby of fitness.  I'm not sure what Raven will do just yet; her LTW is for Journalism, which isn't available, nor is there anything fitness related for her to do unless I have her open a gym or maybe work for Mckenna Lane at her dance studio.

Taxes were $3,973.00, bringing the total to $24,854.00.

No changes to stats or careers.  Up next, the Centowski family.  Happy Simming!

BACC 4/24/21

Markus and Marsha were really struggling this round.  With the restaurant bringing in no money all week, it was all on Marsha to be the breadwinner.  She did well, earning I think three promotions plus a chance card that awarded her $2000.  I sent Markus down to the business lot on Sunday just to check the value for tax purposes and noticed that the restaurant somehow lost a star, taking it down to rank 9.  Not sure how that happened since he hasn't run the business since it achieved rank 10, but it is what it is.  I had Markus pass the business over to Jackson on Sunday because I feared he wouldn't survive until next week.  He hung in there, just barely, but I daresay next Monday will be his last day.

Early in the week, Vanessa aged up to child, followed the next day by the twins becoming teens.  Marsha passed 60 and Markus hit 70 at the end of the week.  Jackson will be an adult next week and I have a few ideas about how to expand the business to hopefully make it profitable.  The teens definitely have some chemistry with the other neighborhood teens, but no love connections were made.

Taxes were $6,010.00, but the Kekahis only paid $4,000.00, bringing the community balance to $20,891.00 and their back tax debt to $8,330.00.

No changes to stats or careers except Business now only has 2 slots open.  The rules are not clear on whether the Business slots that open up when a player owned business reaches rank 10 are subsequently lost if the business loses rank 10 status, so I decided to err on the side of making things harder and dropped one Business position due to The Snack Shack's demotion in rank.

Next up, The Collins family.  Happy Simming!

BACC 4/23/21

The Hastings' house is bursting at the seams.  Hunter gave birth to his second alien daughter this week, naming her Carolina and maxing out the household.  Carolina got glitched during her first birthday, however, forcing me to delete her to reset.  When I returned, she was un-glitched, but unable to age up.  She did age the next night, but she's now one day younger than she should be, so she won't age to child until next week.  Other birthdays this week include: Michelle aging to elder, Emma and Dakota aging to teen, and Olivia becoming a child.  Albert is 68 as of the end of the week, with not much time remaining on his life bar.

Albert got Crescendo up to rank 9 this week and will have at least a day or two to work on getting it to 10 next week before he passes on.  At this point I'm planning on having him pass the business to Wyatt, who will become an adult in a few days.  If Albert does get it ranked up before passing it on, Wyatt will have little need to actually run it that often, so I may let him open a second business or take a job.  Both Michelle and Hunter earned two promotions this round; Michelle is a Concert Pianist and Hunter is a Lieutenant.

On the personal front, Hunter is friendly with Maya Lane, but they have negative chemistry and I don't really see anything happening there.  Hunter is so busy with his job and kids that he may end up being an eternal bachelor.  During Dakota's teen birthday party, however, Emma made a move on Brady Lane (Maya's son) and they're now in love.  We'll see where that goes.

Taxes were $6,261.00, bringing the total to $16,891.00.

BACC 4/21/21

Week 12 begins with the founder's lot.  Things were moving fairly slowly early in the week.  Ryan had Tuesday-Thursday off from work, so I decided to have Davon run Keanu's General Store for those three days, so that Ryan could do the baking.  During that time, Davon discovered that he needed more help, so hired an elderly townie to tend the juice bar, while manager Meadow Pederson handled the register and Davon stocked and helped customers.  A lot of money was made and the business remained at rank 10.  Over at Lei Fleur, business was also booming, though the customers were fairly cranky for some reason, so it took the entire work week to get the remaining stars to rank up to level 10.  I decided to have Makala bring Andrew with her for a couple of days, so that he could start learning flower arranging.  At home, she worked on passing the few non-money business perks she's obtained, though I'm not sure they'll be of much use to him.  Ryan finally got promoted in Culinary; he's got one more promotion to go to reach the top, which will unlock Culinary for everyone.  Adrienne also got a promotion; I'm not sure if she needs one or two more to reach the top.

As expected, Adrienne and Davon struggled to get pregnant again, but on Adrienne's last day of fertility they finally did.  This is where things started to get chaotic.  Adrienne was due to give birth Saturday morning.  At about 1:00 a.m. Saturday, Ryan got abducted.  I was pretty excited about it since Ryan still had a couple days of fertility left and I love alien babies.  Plus, Ryan's child would be half-siblings to Adrienne's brother Hunter's kids, making for a complicated, but interesting family tree.  However, when Ryan was returned home, no lullaby sounded.  A few hours later I found out why.  Adrienne gave birth to twin girls, bringing the household to 8 sims.  Go figure Adrienne decides to go and get fertile in the 11th hour.  In any event, since the twins (Amelia and Elizabeth) were born before six on Saturday, they were due to age up on Sunday.  Adrienne was also aging up to elder on Sunday.  Incidentally, Jordan aged up to child earlier in the week.  I noticed on Saturday that Makala's life bar was not looking great, so I went ahead and had her pass the business over to Andrew as well as all the stock she had in her inventory.  It's a good thing because just as Davon was working on inviting all their family and friends over to celebrate Adrienne's and the twins' birthdays on Sunday, Makala passed away at the age of 65.  As you can imagine, the party was a complete suckfest with everyone being sad about Makala's death.  I didn't expect her to go so soon; she wasn't even the oldest Kekahi sibling.  Makala will be the first sim to reside in the Kahua Cemetery, as I'm keeping Marylena's urn and Keanu's fake urn here on the founder's lot.

Taxes this week came to $10,425.00, bringing the community total to $10,630.00.  Their tax contribution alone nearly paid for the cemetery, so it's fitting that they'd be the first to use it.

BACC 4/19/21

The final household for week 11 is new resident Daniel Drew.  Daniel is a Knowledge sim, who I decided will try to get into the Gaming career.  Gamer is available to any sim who possesses the expensive computer, a video game console, an arcade machine, and a pinball machine.  I also thought it'd be cool if he was really into robots, so I gave him a robot bench to start working on a badge and maybe someday create a Servo.  For now, since he is jobless, his income stems from digging for treasure, fishing, and selling the toy robots he makes.  He wasn't particularly successful with the digging, but he did manage to buy the console and pay his taxes with some money to spare.  I expect he'll get at least two of the three remaining items next week.  If only he'd find a treasure chest he'd be set.

I don't see Daniel as someone who is particularly interested in romance, but he did meet the Lane sisters during their round and Maya called him nearly every day, so I guess maybe she's interested?  They only have one bolt so we'll see.  It was helpful in keeping his social up at least.

Daniel's taxes were $702.00, bringing the community total to $13,067.00.  Since Daniel brought my total households to 8, I decided to go ahead and build the cemetery.  With the relatively small budget, I had to keep it simple, but I think it works for the small island community.  I can always build a bigger one downtown (when I earn it) later.  After the construction of the cemetery, the community coffers are down to just $205.00.

Stats:

Playable sims: 36
SM: 4 (SM gets +1 for every 5 comm lots - cemetery makes 10 comm lots)
Population: 144

BACC 4/18/21

Time to meet Kahua Island's newest residents!  The Lane family is made up of elder patriarch Shane, his two adult daughters - Maya and Mckenna, and Maya's little boy Brady.  Shane is Romance, as is Mckenna, and Maya is Fortune.  Taking into consideration their aspirations, interests, hobbies, and personalities, I decided that Mckenna would open a dance studio and Maya would take one of the newly opened positions in Business.  Shane's main function is babysitting Brady and digging for treasure.

Mckenna's studio, Dance With Me, isn't much more than walls, doors, and windows at the moment, but it's a start.  Maya did well in Business, making it to Junior Exec by the end of the week.  Once she reaches the top of Business, the Business District will be officially unlocked, earning me +5 to my SM and +5 CAS, as well as giving me a new area in which to build.

Though the ladies made several friends, they didn't meet anyone they were particularly interested in romantically.  Shane was offered a blind date by a townie that Maya brought home and it turned out to be a cop that he had three bolts for.  Their date went exceptionally well, and the young woman went home very happy the next morning.  There's no real future because Shane is an elder and halfway through his life bar already, but he's Romance so he probably doesn't care.  Brady was already acquainted with several of the other kids in the neighborhood, having come home from school with them, so he had some built in friends already.  By the end of the week, when he grew into a teen (and rolled Romance), he was friends with Raven Collins and Emma Hastings, best friends with Cherry Kekahi, and BFFs with Andrew Wheeler.  He's also met Wyatt Hastings, Reed Centowski, and Ethan Collins.

Lot #7 taxes came to $1,757.00, bringing the total to $12,365.00.

BACC 4/17/21 Part 2

The Kekahi/London household (Lot #6) went by pretty quickly.  Twins Kalen and Marina both work at their brother's restaurant, Randy London works in Law Enforcement, and Ivy Copur Kekahi bought a community lot and began building a pub.  Since everyone had to work all week, I held off on having the double wedding until the weekend.  Randy got demoted on his first day of work and it took two days to get promoted back to the level he started at.  He did manage to score one more promotion before the end of the week.  Ivy didn't get the chance to actually run her business just yet, as it's still under construction, but hopefully next round it'll be finished enough to get started.

On the personal front, Marina and Ivy still hate each other and fight constantly if I don't keep them busy.  It should be fun having them living under the same roof for the rest of their lives.  As soon as they got married the twins rolled wants to have babies simultaneously (it's almost creepy really).  Though neither was successful one their first try, the next day Kalen and Ivy got a lullaby.  Unfortunately, Marina and Randy did not.  Marina does not have much time left at all, considering how long the twins waited to settle down, three days at most.  If she doesn't get pregnant soon, she'll have missed her chance.

Lot #6 taxes were $2,614.00, bringing the total to $10,608.00.  The next thing I'm saving for is a cemetery.  I can't build it until I have 8 households, but that will be very soon.  I don't think it'll cost too much, but I'll try to save up $25,000-$30,000 to make sure I have enough.

Stats:

Playable sims: 31

No changes to career stats except for Randy officially filling the second Law Enforcement position.

*Every new community lot earns a CAS, so Ivy's pub did that.  I've already created the family of four that is due to move in next and the next family is a single sim household, so I'll go ahead and create him/her as well.  After that, it'll be a family of six so I'll have some breathing room.

Next up will be the new family - the Lanes!  Until then, Happy Simming!

BACC 4/17/21

We're back to Lot #5 and the Centowskis.  Hulu a Lomi is now rank 9; Brenna is making money hand over fist at the spa.  She probably would've made rank 10 if it hadn't been for the bad review she got for no apparent reason.  The customers were throwing stars like it was their job, so I'm not really sure what the reviewer's beef was.

I was a little worried that Brenna or Orlando would roll the want for a baby as soon as the twins aged to teen.  I really didn't want that, but would've obliged them.  However, they did not and I didn't have to.  Brenna is now too old; she'll be an elder next week.  Reed brought Dakota Hastings home from school early in the week, when they were still children, and then brought home Raven Collins later when they were teens.  He's now best friends with Dakota and nearly friends with Raven (who he has two bolts for) and Robert made friends with Raven very quickly because they have three bots.  Raven is currently dating Andrew Wheeler but, as I said, she's very popular and things could change quickly.

The tax debt for Lot #5 was $7,691.00, bringing the balance to $7,994.00 (after deducting $100,000.00 for the "office building").

No change to stats or careers.  Next up are the Kekahi twins Kalen and Marina, who moved into a "duplex" with their fiances.  Happy Simming!

BACC 4/16/21

Meadow Collins surprised me this week, by not rolling the want for another baby when Ethan grew up.  In fact, by the time she did roll the want it was too late to do anything about it, as she was just a few days away from elder.  So I guess the Collins clan is complete with just two children.  It's kind of nice actually to have some smaller families.  By the end of the week, Meadow had become an elder, Raven a teen, and Ethan a child.

I let Meadow go to work this week, since I she had so much trouble taking vacation last week.  I had Chase hire the nanny when he went off to his business.  Since they didn't have to expand the house after all, Chase was able to invest more into building up his business.  In addition to his paintings, Meadow began working on some pottery stock to sell.  He made a decent profit, but only got to rank 1.  It'll be interesting to find all his random paintings in townies' inventories as they are gradually moved in.  He paints whatever he finds interesting on the lot while he's waiting for sims to decide on their purchases, so he's sold everything from butterflies to portraits of customers.

Raven is likely to be very popular, as she's currently the only female teen on the island, but Andrew Wheeler (Raven's best friend) was taking no chances and immediately started initiating romantic interactions as soon as Raven aged up.  They are now in love, but not necessarily destined for one another as I like to let sims make their own choices in that regard.

The Collins family paid $1,996.00 in taxes, bringing the total to $100,303.00.  Finally Kahua Island has enough funds to pay for the "office building" which will officially unlock the two Business slots that have been earned.  As I mentioned previously, I'll be creating a Business District to house the "office building", but will not take any of the rewards for creating the BD until someone reaches the top of the Business career and unlocks it for everyone.

The only thing that changed stat-wise is that the two Business positions are now available.  Up next are the Centowskis.  Happy Simming!

BACC 4/15/21 Part 2

I am really obsessed with this challenge right now, so here's another update.

Markus and Marsha had a tough time this week.  Markus was able to get the restaurant up to rank 10 on Monday, earning another slot in Business.  He immediately promoted Orlando to manager and closed up for the day before he lost any more money.  The rest of the week he stayed home and just checked in with the business.  He made $100 or less every day, but that's still better than losing thousands a day.  Marsha was luckily able to find a job in Music right away, which helped a bit.  She earned a couple of promotions throughout the week, allowing them to pay their bills and buy the beds needed for their growing family.

Jackson had a birthday, aging to teen, and the twins followed the next day, becoming children.  Mid-week the new baby, Vanessa, was born.  I was so happy to have a single girl.  You have no idea.  By the end of the week, Marsha had celebrated her elder birthday, so definitely no more babies for this family.  She'll be keeping her job though because they desperately need the money.

They owed taxes in the amount of $6,257.00, but could not afford to pay that much.  They paid $1,200.00 and the remaining balance will be rolled over to next week along with a 10% interest penalty.  The new community funds balance is $98,307.00.

BACC 4/15/21

The Hastings family grew by leaps and bounds this week.  Hunter delivered a baby girl who he named Dakota and Albert decided he wanted just one more as well, despite being an elder already, and Michelle also gave birth to a girl, who they named Olivia.  As if that weren't enough, Hunter got abducted again in the early morning hours of Sunday (it's becoming a tradition for him, lol), so he'll be adding yet another family member next round.  There were so many birthdays I lost track.  Suffice it to say: Wyatt is a teen, Emma and Dakota are children, and Olivia is a toddler as of the end of the week.

Albert got Crescendo up to rank 7 and Michelle earned several promotions in Music.  However, the most interesting career development revolved around Hunter.  His first shift back to work after Dakota was born landed him with a bad chance card that got him fired.  As disappointing as that was, I was thinking that at least it solved the problem of Randy London being able to keep his job in Law Enforcement, since Hunter's spot would now be open.  I spent some time thinking about what Hunter should do instead.  I had three possible options lined up: 1) he could get a job in Criminal when one becomes available (sour grapes from being fired from the police department?), 2) he could take over Crescendo from his dad, or 3) he could start his own business.  All of those options went out the window, however, when Hunter met a random townie walkby the next day who immediately offered him a job in Law Enforcement that was much higher than the level he'd been at.  He obviously had to accept, but that left me in the same position as before - I needed a fire in order for Randy to keep his job.  Luckily, Michelle decided to help me out and set the stove on fire later in the week.  Consequently, there are now two Law Enforcement positions, though I won't be recording the second one as filled until I officially add Randy to the playable sim count.

Taxes were $5,745.00, bringing the total to $97,107.00.

BACC 4/14/21

After much building, I'm finally back to Lot #1 - the founder's lot.  Davon only ran the store for one day this round - on Ryan's day off from work, so that he could help out with the baking.  The store has been at rank 10 for a long time, so it doesn't really need to be run all the time.  Lei Fleur did well this week (which, incidentally is Week 11 on Kahua Island, if you were wondering), ranking up to level 9.  Both Ryan and Adrienne earned several promotions this week, as well.  Ryan is now Executive Chef and Adrienne is Architectural Partner.

Makala had her elder birthday early in the week and her son Andrew became a teen near the end.  Davon and Adrienne continued to struggle with infertility, but finally did have a son named Jordan, who grew into a toddler the same day that Andrew aged up.  Davon wants another baby, but Adrienne only has a few more days of fertility and, with all the trouble they had conceiving the first time, I don't know if that'll happen.

I was hoping for a fire, since I just need one more to unlock a second Law Enforcement position.  If you recall, Hunter Hastings is currently filling the only position, but Marina's fiance, Randy London, is already employed in Law Enforcement, so if I can unlock another position by the time I get to their household, he can keep the job.  Unfortunately, no fires happened, but Brenna was struck by lightening one day when she was visiting which brings my electrocution stat to 2.  One more will unlock a Science position, so that's pretty cool.

Lot #1 paid $10,007.00 in taxes, bringing the total collected to $91,362.00.

SM: 3
Population: 78
Residential lots: 6
Owned Community lots: 6
Unowned Community lots: 1
CAS earned: 7 (3 added, will add 4 more end of this round)

No new career positions were opened up, but we're getting very close to building the 'hood "office building" which will allow a position in Business to open.  A spot in Criminal will also open as soon as we hit 100 population, which should happen this round.  Very exciting!  Up next will be the Hastings family.  Happy Simming!

BACC 4/11/21

Back to Lot #5 and the Centowskis.  Brenna nearly got the salon to rank 6, but she was a couple stars short, so will remain rank 5 for now.  I finally figured out how to get customers to buy massages.  Having Brenna "be masseuse" wasn't enough.  I had to actually send her around to "sell Swedish massage to..." individual sims.  Also I set the price to the cheapest one, since even at average they thought it was too expensive.  Without Orlando at the shop this week, however, Brenna was having trouble keeping up with the register while also giving massages, so I had her hire a cashier.  She now employs three sims at Hulu a Lomi, two stylists and the cashier.  On a side note, Orlando is now properly employed at The Snack Shack.

The twins grew into toddlers and then into children by the end of the week.  Surprisingly, neither Brenna nor Orlando (both Family sims) rolled the want for another baby, so I guess they're content with their two boys.  I made the kids' room fairly large, expecting a large family, but it may only be these two for Brenna and Orlando.  The boys don't mind at all.

Taxes were paid in the amount of $7,585.00, bringing the neighborhood total to $81,355.00.  We're getting close to that "office building".

There were no changes to stats or careers.

I'll be spending the next day or two building a house for the Kekahi twins and their significant others, as well as creating the new CAS family and building them a home as well.  In addition, as soon as someone opens a new business (which I'll also have to build), I'll earn another CAS, and since the next family is a single sim family, I'll then need to build another house for that sim.  So a LOT of building coming up lol.  Next update will be Lot #1 because the twins were already played this round and will be skipped until next round.  Until then, Happy Simming!

BACC 4/10/21

The Collins family (Lot #4) welcomed a baby girl on Monday, followed by a baby boy on Saturday.  The girl's name is Raven and she grew into a child by the end of the week.  Ethan is still a baby, but will grow up on Monday of next week.  I daresay Meadow will be wanting another right away.  They managed to build a room for the kids, but they'll need a second floor very soon if they continue to have children at this rate.  Financially, that's going to be tough.

Chase's business, Nani Ke Ola (Life is Beautiful) got off to a pretty good start, though he's yet to rank up.  He sold one or two paintings per day, making between $80 and $400 for them.  By the end of the week, he'd maxed creativity, so his paintings will be worth more now.  He stocked a few in inventory to get him going on Monday.  We did hit a snag when it came to Meadow's vacation pay.  I had her take the week off, so Chase could focus on his business.  However, when it came time for her vacation pay, she kept getting $0 instead of the $496 she should have got, so I had to familyfunds them the money.  It's only fair, paid vacation is paid vacation, whether it's a regular job or an employee job.

Apart from growing their business and their family, they had to contend with drama from Neil Cameron.  Apparently, being invited to Meadow's wedding did not clue him in to the fact that they were over.  When I was playing the Hastings family, Meadow and Chase were invited to a birthday party and when Neil walked by Meadow autonomously greeted him.  He then got jealous when he saw Meadow and Chase kissing and left in a huff.  This week he stole every newspaper that was delivered and kicked the trash over more times than I can count.  I didn't notice once and they had so many roaches it was ridiculous.  I hope he gets over it soon.

Taxes came to $1,552.00, bringing the total to $73,770.00.

Stats:

Playable sims: 25
SM: 3
Population: 75
Residential lots: 6
Owned Community lots: 6
Unowned Community lots: 1
CAS earned: 7* (3 added)

*Each community lot earns a CAS.  At the beginning of the challenge I decided to stagger the addition of CAS by grouping them into random family units.  I rolled a six-sided die several times, getting the numbers 3,4,1,6,2,2,6,5,2,4,1,5.  So the first family would have 3 sims (Albert Hastings and his 2 kids), the next would have 4, and so on.  So that means we'll be getting a family of four next round.  I will create one adult with random gender/genetics/personality/aspiration, then roll for the age of each additional family member.  Depending on what I get, I'll decide on the family relationships and then create the rest of the family.

No new career positions were opened up.

Up next are Brenna and Orlando.  Happy Simming!

BACC 4/9/21

Markus and Marsha had quite a lot to deal with this round.  Firstly, Markus had to hire Orlando back as his chef at The Snack Shack because he certainly doesn't have enough cooking points to take his place.  I was hoping to get the restaurant up to rank 10 this week, but it ended up being 3 stars short - grrrr!  As soon as it does rank up, however, Markus is going to promote Orlando to manager and let the business run itself because, let me tell you, that place is a money pit.  Markus never makes a profit - like ever.  The cost of wages for a chef and two servers far outweighs the money he makes from the meals.  In fact, the only times he's ever made a profit was when he got a money perk.  Maybe down the line one of his descendants will be able to make it work, but Markus just doesn't have what it takes lol.  If he can get the last three stars on Monday next round, I'm thinking early retirement and have Marsha look for a job in Music, since that's the only thing available at the moment.

At home, things were no less chaotic.  When Jackson grew into a child, Markus immediately rolled the want for another baby like a normal Family sim.  I obliged him, thinking that Marsha doesn't have much longer before becoming an elder, so I should let them get one more in.  Plus they have three bedrooms, so they'd be a nice family unit with two kids.  I should have expected it, I suppose.  Part of me did.  They had TWO new babies - boy/girl twins named Cherry and Eli.  At this point I thought, "Well, I can squeeze Eli in with Jackson when he's older and Cherry can have the nursery.  It'll be tight, but it'll work."  Of course, Markus had other plans.  As soon as the twins aged up to toddler he rolled the want for another baby, even though he'd become an elder the night before.  I was on the fence, but I really like to follow wants when it comes to children.  It can only work if they have a single daughter because there is no room for another boy.  The first day they tried (I only let them try once per day), Marsha did not get pregnant, so I kind of hoped that would remain the case until she got too old, but no such luck.  The next day she wound up pregnant, so I guess we'll be adding a fourth child to this family who I used to think would never even have one.  They'll probably have twin boys just to stick it to me.

Lot #3 taxes were $5,956.00, bringing the total funds to $72,218.00

If Markus had succeeded in achieving rank 10 with his business, it would have opened up another slot in Business (still pending the "office building"), but since he did not do that, there is no change in career stats.  Up next is the Collins family.  Happy Simming!

BACC 4/7/21

The Hastings family on Lot #2 had an eventful and productive round.  By the end of the week, Albert had ranked Crescendo up to level 5, which is pretty good for a venue business.  Michelle managed to score two promotions in the Music career, despite being pregnant for a good portion of the week.  Financially, they're doing quite well.  They were able to build a second story onto the house and finish the landscaping.

There were several birthdays as well.  Wyatt aged up to child, Hunter became an adult, the new baby Emma was born and aged up to toddler, and finally Albert became an elder at the end of the week.  Hunter has not had any luck finding love, but he did find a job in Law Enforcement and in a surprise turn of events - he was abducted and is now alien pregnant.  His baby will be the first alien birth on Kahua Island.  That's pretty exciting I think.

The tax bill was $5,266.00, bringing the total to $66,262.00.

BACC 4/5/21

We're back at the founder's house (Lot #1), where a lot has happened this week.  Let's start with business news.  Davon ran Keanu's General Store for a few days, during which time his manager quit and he had to hire a new one, he finally got everything restocked with the help of his brother-in-law Ryan who has enough cooking points to make the bakery items, then spent the remainder of the work week letting his manager run things while he got caught up on tasks at home.  Makala's shop, Lei Fleur, did very well.  She was so busy that she had to hire another employee to help with stocking and cashiering.  She also had to take a couple of days just to work on making enough stock because they were running out so quickly.  By the end of the week, Lei Fleur was up to rank 8.

On the home front there were also some big changes going on.  Davon moved his fiance, Adrienne Hastings, in and they began planning their wedding for the weekend.  I decided to keep Makala and Ryan on this lot and subsequently built a second master bedroom on the second floor to accommodate them.  Makala gave birth to a son on Tuesday.  They named him Andrew and he actually had two birthdays before the week was out, so he's now a child.  Kalen had already found his lady love, but Marina was still being indecisive, so I had her invite over the prospects and she finally chose Randy London, though she didn't fall in love with him and decide to get engaged until the very end of the week.  I've decided that she and her twin will move into a new lot that's designed like a duplex (though it won't be a true duplex, they'll still be living in the same household) so that each will have their own family space with their respective spouses/families, but can still be joined at the hip the way they like.  Davon and Adrienne's wedding went off without a hitch, but although they tried twice, they were not successful in conceiving a child.  They'll try again next round.  Just before I saved Davon was doing some gardening and transitioned into a plant sim.  Since the only services I'm allowed at the moment are nanny, adoption, police, and fire, I guess he's going to have to stay that way.

The Kekahis paid $9,594.00 in taxes, bringing the total to $60,996.00.

BACC 4/3/21

Newly built Lot #5 is the home of Brenna and Orlando Centowski.  Brenna owns Hulu a Lomi Day Spa, which as of this round is rank 4.  Orlando, as mentioned previously, is supposed to be employed at The Snack Shack, but for some reason he still had a job in Slacker, which I had him quit.  This caused him to be unemployed for the week, so I had him help out at the spa.  I'll have Marcus hire him back next round, so everything should be back on track when we return to this lot.

Both Orlando and Brenna wanted to start a family right away, but they had some fertility trouble initially and didn't manage to get pregnant until Thursday.  They made up for it though, by having twin boys - Reed and Robert.  The house isn't quite finished yet, but it's coming along nicely thanks to the success of the business.  Next round we'll also have Orlando's income, so I'd say the house will be completed then.

The Centowskis paid $6,993.00 in taxes, bringing the total to $51,402.00.

I also realized that I'd incorrectly figured my Sim Multiplier, by counting all the lots, rather than just the community lots, so I've adjusted my previous posts accordingly.

Stats:

Playable sims: 19

And that's the end of the round.  We'll loop back around to the founder's house next.  Happy Simming!

BACC 4/2/21

Lot #4 is owned by Meadow Thayer, a former townie who works as the manager at Lei Fleur.  She has a bungalow style house right on the beach.  As of this round, Meadow was crushing on two different men, so I had her invite them both over a couple of times to see which she would choose.  One of the guys, Neil Cameron, left immediately each time he was invited.  Consequently, the other guy, Chase Collins, won Meadow's heart by default, even though she has more chemistry with Neil.  Snooze you lose, right?  Meadow moved Chase in towards the end of the week and they got married on the weekend, when she had the day off from work.  They've also decided to start their family right away and will be expecting their first bundle of joy early next round.

Since Meadow doesn't own a business herself, I decided to have Chase open one.  I like to try to choose businesses that suit the sim in some way, but also work towards the challenge goals.  Chase is a Knowledge sim whose one true hobby is arts and crafts.  He and Meadow don't have much money and they'll need to expand the house once the baby arrives, so I wanted something inexpensive to start up, so that he could get started fairly quickly.  I decided on a roadside stand that sells artwork; Chase can paint and Meadow can contribute some pottery as well, since she has a silver badge.  This will loosely fit the description of an "art gallery" needed to unlock a position in the Artist career, though I'm aware that I keep unlocking careers that sims can't take anyway due to the lack of a University lol.  In any event, I like to build lots in the base 'hood that I feel fit the flavor of the town (things like clubs and gyms can go in the Business District or Downtown when they are unlocked) and I'm sure the gallery will evolve into a more traditional format sometime down the line anyway so it's all good.  I should note, however, that Chase has not actually purchased the lot yet, so it will not appear in the stats until he does.

The Collins family paid $1,756.00 in taxes, which included back taxes from last round as well as current taxes (yes, I make them pay back taxes if they can't afford their tax bill and yes, they pay interest on the unpaid amount as well), which brings the community funds total to $44,409.00.

Current stats:

Playable sims: 17
SM: 3
Population: 51
Residential lots: 4 (will be 5)
Owned Community lots: 5
Unowned Community lots: 1
CAS earned: 6 (3 added)

Culinary: One position available, filled by Ryan Wheeler.

Law Enforcement: One position available.

Music: Open, one position filled by Michelle Hastings.

Natural Science: One position available, pending a sim earning a college degree.

Architecture: Once position available, filled by Adrienne Hastings.

BACC 4/1/21

Lot #3 is owned by Markus and Marsha (Bruenig) Kekahi.  Marcus is the oldest son of founder Keanu and Marylena Kekahi.  Markus owns The Snack Shack, a restaurant that as of this round is rank 8, where he employs two of his siblings (the twins) and his brother-in-law Orlando Centowski.  Orlando has a bit of a weird glitch going on, however.  Although he is employed as a chef at The Snack Shack, he also still somehow has a job in Slacker (which he's not allowed to have, since it hasn't been unlocked yet).  Orlando was hired as a townie and was only very recently moved in when he married Brenna Kekahi.  They haven't been played yet on their new lot.  It remains to be seen what will happen when I get to them.  Orlando will need to quit his Slacker job, of course, but will he still be employed at The Snack Shack?  Or will Markus need to rehire him next round?  I guess we'll find out.

On the personal front, Markus and Marsha have remained childless for quite some time, which is unusual given that Markus is a Family sim.  This round, however, he finally rolled the want for a baby and I immediately fulfilled that want.  They had a son named Jackson, who grew into a toddler before week's end.  Surprisingly, Markus did not roll the want for another baby when Jackson grew up.  He's really very odd for a Family sim.

The Kekahis paid $5,596.00 in taxes, bringing the total funds to $42,653.00.

Current stats:
