Victorian Population Challenge 3/13/22

Trade #2 Whitlock:  Current household members are: Liam & Chastity (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - adults), Siobhan (Gen 3 - teen), Oliver (Gen 3 Heir - teen), Owen (Gen 3 - child), Brendan (Gen 3 - child), and Erin (Gen 3 - toddler).  Tia moved out and Chastity is pregnant with #7.  Liam and Oliver did some fishing over the Spring, but neither is very good at it and they didn't bring in much cash.  I also forgot to pay the bills once, resulting in the Repo Man visiting.  The rules state that if the Repo Man visits three times, the family will be demoted back down to Subsistence Farmers, so I need to be more on top of that.  They are just keeping their heads above water financially, but did at least manage to get Erin's dowry squared away, so at least that's not hanging over their heads.  I'm sure they're hoping the next baby will be a boy so they don't have to worry about that.  Household bank balance is $24/$100,000.

Trade #3 Stanbury:  Current household members are: Thomas & Joy (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - adults), Robert (Gen 3 Heir - adult), Damon (Gen 3 - teen), Toby (Gen 3 - teen), James (Gen 3 - child), Sarah (Gen 3 - child), Mary (Gen 3 - toddler).  Robert came of age during Spring and wasted no time at all in making things official with Leila Hopkins.  They are now engaged, but she won't be able to move in until Damon moves out, which luckily is very soon.  It was very good fortune that Robert was already close with Leila because, as the heir, he cannot marry below his social class.  Joy is still having trouble keeping up with both the household chores and the sewing, but once Leila moves in she'll finally have the help she needs and things should start to pick up.  Household bank balance is $3335/$100,000.

That concludes the Spring update.  As we get into Summer, the farmers will have their first harvest of the year, as well as replanting for the second harvest in Fall.  Hopefully some of those Sub Farmers will level up to Trade when the harvest money comes in.  At least one Poor family could possibly level up as well.  I don't think any Trade families will move up any time soon though.  None of them are even close to $100K yet.  Summer update coming in a couple of weeks.  Until then, Happy Simming!

Victorian Population Challenge 3/12/22

Sub Farm #8 Hayward:  Current household members are: Julian & Esme (Gen 2 - adults), Saul (Gen 3 Heir - child), Dana (Gen 3 - toddler), and Julia (Gen 3 - baby).  Esme is expecting #4.  Having the heir first, followed by several girls is a good formula for subsistence farmers.  Saul is old enough now to help his father with the farm work and build his gardening badge, while the girls are not too far behind and will soon be able to help out their mother with the household chores and subsequent children.  Also, the heir and the oldest child being one in the same means only one child will be prohibited from having a job as a teen.  Julian and Esme are off to a good start.  Household bank balance is $516/$50,000.

Sub Farm #9 Whitlock:  Current household members are: Conrad & Claudia (Gen 2 - adults) and Henry (Gen 3 Heir - baby).  Claudia is pregnant with their second child.  Conrad and Claudia just got married in Spring.  They've got a good crop going and they already have their heir, so they're off to a good start.  Not much money yet, but it'll come.  Household bank balance is $185/$50,000.

Sub Farm #10 Godwin:  Current household members are: Lee & Bess (Gen 2 - adults).  Bess is pregnant with their first child.  Lee and Bess are newlyweds just starting out, but with a slight advantage, as Bess was formerly Trade class and, therefore, came into the marriage with a dowry.  Since they only got married at the very end of Spring, they'll wait until Summer to plant.  In the meantime, the extra cash was put to good use expanding the garden plots and purchasing some ladybug houses.  Household bank balance is $1275/$50,000.

Trade #1 Hopkins:  Current household members are: Elsie (Gen 1 Founder - elder), Nathaniel & Johanna (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - adults), Eve (Gen 3 - teen), Olivia (Gen 3 - teen), Elsa (Gen 3 - child), and Andrew (Gen 3 Heir - toddler).  Leila moved out and Johanna is pregnant with baby #6.  Elsie is still alive y'all!  She's 81 now, with just a sliver left on her life bar, so I think she's got one more day, but at least she's lived long enough to see the heir born finally.  She'll die one happy lady.  In other news, the household became infected with the slow time bug about halfway through the last day I played.  I'm sure that'll make running the shop loads of fun.  Household bank balance is $30,456/$100,000.

Just two more Trade families to get through and we'll on to the Summer season.  Happy Simming!

Victorian Population Challenge 3/11/22

Sub Farm #4 Hayward:  Current household members are: Levi & Elizabeth (Gen 2 - adults), James (Gen 3 Heir - adult), Matthew (Gen 3 - teen), Caleb (Gen 3 - child), and Juliet (Gen 3 - toddler).  Elizabeth is pregnant with her eighth (that's right eighth) child.  Anna and Moses moved to the girls' home and the workhouse, respectively.  James' only marriage prospect chose someone else, so he's on his own for the foreseeable future.  The family purchased a few more ladybug houses, which cut into their savings, but they're hoping to recoup that when the harvest comes in.  They'd really like to expand to the full six fruit trees allowed as well, so we'll see what happens with that.  Household bank balance is $4335/$50,000.

Sub Farm #5 Godwin:  Current household members are: Emory & Caroline (Gen 2 - adults), Georgianna (Gen 3 - teen), Hardy (Gen 3 Heir - teen), Emmett (Gen 3 - teen), Joan (Gen 3 - child), and Willis (Gen 3 - toddler).  Caroline is pregnant with baby #8.  Louise moved to the girls' home.  It's been a tough Spring with so much rain that Emory's crops are suffering from overwatering.  Caroline has been too tired to do much toymaking, but Georgianna and Emmett are doing their part with teen jobs.  Still the family finances are low.  A fishing trip may be in order.  Household bank balance is $1612/$50,000.

Sub Farm #6 Hayward:  Current household members are: Curtis & Charlotte (Gen 2 - adults), Victoria (Gen 3 - teen), Justine (Gen 3 - child), Ruby (Gen 3 - child), River (Gen 3 Heir - child), and Oliver (Gen 3 - toddler).  Charlotte is expecting baby #6.  This family did not start with it, but they've developed the slow time glitch, which means their last few children are closer together than the first few.  They've also experienced incessant rain, but at least the glitch makes things grow faster, so they've already begun to harvest some of the strawberries, as well as the fruit trees.  Victoria is not allowed to have a job, but Justine will soon be old enough.  Charlotte continues to make pottery as much as she is able.  Household bank balance is $2469/$50,000.

Sub Farm #7 Godwin:  Current household members are: Finn & Violet (Gen 2 - adults), Declan (Gen 3 Heir - teen), Greta (Gen 3 - child), Hazel (Gen 3 - child), and Maureen (Gen 3 - toddler).  Violet is, of course, expecting their fifth child.  Finn has invested a lot of money into the farm, hoping it'll pay off in the end.  He expanded to maximum plots/trees and added several ladybug houses.  He still needs a couple more of those, but beds for the children are taking precedence right now.  Luckily, he hasn't been plagued with rain, so he should be in for a profitable harvest come Summer.  Household bank balance is $490/$50,000.

We should be able to get through the remaining farms tomorrow and then we'll be on to the Trade families.  Happy Simming!

Victorian Population Challenge 3/10/22

Sub Farm #1 Godwin:  Current household members are: Silas & Matilda (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - adults), Adolph (Gen 3 Heir - adult), Lucius (Gen 3 - teen), Emil (Gen 3 - teen), Addie (Gen 3 - teen), Milo (Gen 3 - child), and Patricia (Gen 3 - baby).  Amelia moved to the girls' home.  The family expanded the farm just before the beginning of Spring to add three more fruit trees (I'm only allowing a max of 6 fruit trees and 24 plots on sub farms), so their farm is now at its most productive.  Adolph is still on the hunt for a wife, though there isn't currently room in the household for her until Lucius moves out.  Matilda continues to make quilts, which will become even easier now that she's past her childbearing years, and all three teens have jobs to bring in extra cash as well.  Household bank balance is $28,226/$50,000.

Sub Farm #2 Godwin:  Current household members are: Oliver & Louise (Gen 2 - adults), Quentin (Gen 3 Heir - teen), Charlotte (Gen 3 - child), Elizabeth (Gen 3 - child), Violet (Gen 3 - child), Annabelle (Gen 3 - child), and Cordelia (Gen 3 - child).  This family continues to eke out a living by fishing mostly.  I've discovered, however, that Quentin is a much better fisherman than his father, and so Oliver has been taking him along most days.  They're just one bed short now, so that's progress I guess.  One advantage to the slow time glitch is that plants mature faster, meaning that they've been able to harvest fruit trees several times already and the strawberries have already been harvested as well.  They'll be selling the peppers and eggplants when they come in, so that'll be some much-needed income also.  Hopefully they'll be able to afford some ladybug houses and a crafting station of some sort for Louise by the end of Summer.  Household bank balance is $168/$50,000.

Sub Farm #3 Hayward:  Current household members are: Noah & Grace (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - adults), Abraham & Amelia (Gen 3 Heir/Wife - adults), Ezra (Gen 3 - teen), Maxwell (Gen 3 - teen), Robin (Gen 3 - child), and Camilla (Gen 3 - toddler).  Solomon moved to the workhouse, which allowed Abraham and Amelia (good omen that she has the same name as his grandmother?) to get married.  There isn't room for a baby yet, but once Ezra moves out, they'll get right on it.  By then Grace will be too old to conceive, so there won't be any overlap in generations.  Amelia will make the most of her pregnancy free time to work on flower arranging alongside her mother-in-law.  Household bank balance is $37,980/$50,000.

That's it for today.  Happy Simming!

Victorian Population Challenge 3/9/22

Spring is winding down for Victoria's Peak, which means it's time for another update.

Poor #1 Stanbury:  Current household members are: Raymond & Marie (Gen 2 - adults), Ginevra (Gen 3 - child), and Norman (Gen 3 Heir - toddler).  Marie is pregnant with their third child.  This household has been infected with the slow time glitch, which is a blessing for the challenge, but maybe a curse for Marie?  Seems like she waited a long time to get married so she wouldn't have to have too many kids, but now she'll likely pop out at least four I'd say.  At least they got their heir already, so they don't have to worry about that.  Household bank balance is $659/$50,000.

Poor #2 Vacant

Poor #3 Baldwin:  Current household members are: Hart & Josie (Gen 2 Heir/Wife - adults), Lucy (Gen 3 - child), August (Gen 3 Heir - toddler), and Honey (Gen 3 - baby).  Josie is pregnant with baby #4.  Hart has been struggling for that next promotion.  He's nearly gained the skills needed, but he still needs several friends, so it might be a while before that happens.  Josie is helping as much as she can with her pottery.  Household bank balance is $37,329/$50,000.

Poor #4 Hopkins:  Current household members are: Henry & Alice (Gen 2 - adults), Adelaide (Gen 3 - teen), Herman (Gen 3 Heir - teen), Julian (Gen 3 - child), Rose (Gen 3 - child), and Derek (Gen 3 - toddler).  Alice is pregnant with her sixth (and probably last) baby.  Henry continues to be a mediocre provider, however Adelaide brought in quite a tidy sum between that quilt she picked up and the $800 she got from a chance card at work.  Incidentally, since the rules don't say what to do with items sims purchase from sim-owned businesses, I've just been lumping those in with the fish and dug up treasures rule of only keeping $500 per day.  I check everyone's inventory when I enter the household, add up everything they've acquired since last time, let them keep or sell up to $500, and make them give away the rest.  I've also been letting them sell the genie lamp and then buy something for $500 (which remains in inventory or is given away) to offset the gain.  Household bank balance is $4423/$50,000.

Tomorrow we begin the long haul that is the Subsistence Farmers.  There are 10 now!!  Guess Sub Farmers have more game than Poor lol.  Happy Simming!
