BACC Week 16 Summary
Wednesday, June 23, 2021
BACC 6/23/21
The campground experiment is going quite well I think. Kane only had enough to buy a ticket taker and partially build the guest bathrooms initially, but by the end of the week, he'd ranked up to level 4 and completely finished the lot, adding tents, a grilling area, axe throwing, log rolling, and a fishing pond. It really is the perfect setup for a plant sim. Kane spends every day outside soaking up rays and chatting with guests.
I was surprised when Kane developed a crush on elder townie Tiffany Zarubin. I hadn't really planned on him finding a love interest, but I guess if he finds one on his own then I'll have to let him be happy. It's easy enough for him to grow a plant baby to replace him if he decides to go that route. For now, it's just a crush, so we'll wait and see what happens.
Kane's taxes came to $2,677.00, bringing the total to $129,131.00.
No changes to stats or careers.
And that, my friends, is the end of Week 16. I'll be spending the next day or two building the community school, creating two new families that will be moving in, and possibly working on an apartment building if there's any money left over from the school. After that, I'll be moving on to something else. I've had a blast playing Kahua, but I'm getting a little burnt out on building, so it's time for a switch. Happy Simming!

Ezra and Joanna Nichols are a married couple who are new to Kahua Island. Ezra is a Family sim with the LTW to top Education and Joanna is a Fortune sim whose LTW is to top Business. Olivia Hastings had hired Joanna to work at Now Tea This during her rotation, so she worked there until Business came up and then switched, reaching Field Sales Rep by the end of the week. Though I technically have a spot open in Education, I have imposed the rule that the school must be built before anyone can take a job in Education. However, since I'm planning to build the school at the end of the round, I went ahead and let Ezra look. The job did not come up until the weekend, which meant he wouldn't actually be going into work even if he took the job, so I figured that was fair and let him take it.
Ezra, being a Family sim, naturally wanted to have a baby right away. Their daughter Hannah was born mid-week and grew into a toddler before the end of the week, at which point Ezra rolled the want for another baby. Baby #2 will arrive next week.
Their taxes came to $1,275.00, bringing the neighborhood total to $126,454.00.

Phoenix Go already had the engagement want locked in when I entered the household, and since Phoenix is an elder and they might not have much time together, I let them have their wedding party on Monday night when Cherry returned home from work, rather than making them wait until the weekend as I usually do. All Cherry's siblings came to the wedding and it was a roof raiser, despite Joe Carr fighting with Eli and his wife Ivy constantly. The rest of the week was devoted to Cherry working as an employee at Wheeler Stadium, while Phoenix remained at home digging for treasure. Cherry did some digging as well, but she wasn't nearly as good at it as her husband who almost never hits a pipe. By the end of the week, they had enough money to pay their taxes and nearly finish their kitchen. No baby wants were rolled, but that may be a sensible choice for them, since Phoenix is halfway through his life bar and Cherry is 10 days to elder herself.
Taxes were $638.00, bringing the total to $124,198.00. Next up, a new family: the Parkers.
Del Parker is an elder who moved to Kahua Island with his adult daughter Darlene. Both are Popularity, so they get along with just about everyone in town. In fact, Del hit it off with several of the elderly women in town and even developed a crush on Lily Janson. I like the idea of them together, even though it will obviously be a short-lived relationship, since they're both elders. Not sure yet whether I'll move them in together or whether they'll live here or in the Janson home. Let's just see if anything more serious develops first. Darlene dated a few different guys this week, but I think she's got her heart set on townie Waylon Menon. Even though they're only one-bolters they seem like a good match. They are also currently in crush, so we'll wait to see if that progresses.
On the career front, Darlene has the LTW to top Culinary, so that was an easy choice, what with Culinary being fully open. She ended the week as a Waitress. Her dad spent his time digging for treasure, allowing the house to get some much-needed improvements.
Taxes came to $981.00, making the new total $125,179.00.
No changes to stats or careers, with the exception of adding one more worker to the Culinary field. Next up, another new family: the Nichols. Happy Simming!

I had hoped for a more eventful week with the McGaws, but honestly not much happened. Matthew celebrated two birthdays, ending the round as a child. Vanessa failed to roll any more baby wants, so Matt remains an only child, despite Vanessa's LTW to marry off six kids.
Career-wise, Vanessa did manage to snag a couple of promotions, which was good, but they still have a long way to go before the house is finished. She also got abducted, which would've been great if she was a man, but alas...
Katy passed her 60th birthday and is more than half-way through her life bar at this point. She may not survive next week.
Taxes were $759.00, bringing the total to $123,560.00.
No changes to stats or careers. Next up, Cherry Kekahi and boyfriend Phoenix Go. Happy Simming!

It was another quiet week for the Janson family. Lily ran the bookstore all week, ranking it up to level 7. All the money perks she took allowed the family to finally finish their house. Harry and Jenna earned a couple of promotions each, which also helped the finances.
At the very end of the week, Bryce grew into an adult. He'll be learning the ropes from his grandmother at the bookstore and then ultimately he'll take over from her. Romantically, he had three prospects as a teen, but they all aged up before him. Amelia and Carolina have both married already and Megan is dating someone. Something could still happen with Megan, as things aren't yet that serious with her and Troy. Also, remember that Amelia's husband has one foot in the grave and she'll likely be single again very soon, so she's still a contender. Oliver met a townie woman, Jill Tellerman, who he's become best friends with, but he's still a teen, so nothing can happen there until he grows up. Henry (also a teen) became friends with Emily Wheeler who is still a child, but nearing teenhood.
Taxes were $6,010.00, bringing the total balance to $122,801.00.
No changes to stats or careers. Next up, Vanessa and Katy McGaw and their son Matthew. Happy Simming!

Reed and Michelle Centowski welcomed their second baby girl this week. Her name is Sloane and by the end of the week she had grown into a child. Baby #3 is on the way and due early next week. Reed earned just one promotion this week, what with skilling and caring for the kids, but he's nearly got enough points for the next one. Unfortunately, he needs two friends as well, so I'm hoping the girls will bring home some school friends or something. I made Michelle go to work even during pregnancy this week, but I don't know if it was worth it since the nanny cost nearly as much as Michelle's salary. The dog, Otis, reached the top of Pet Security, so he brings in a very helpful amount of cash (on the few days a week he works, that is). Not much else going on for them this week. They bought some furniture, but made few renovations. Their house is still largely unfinished.
Taxes were $1,378.00, bringing the total to $116,791.00.

The Wheelers expanded their family, not once, but twice this week. Their son Ty was born mid-week, followed by another son, Cody, born just before the end of the week. I'd really love for them to have at least one more, but Raven is nearly her fertility cutoff and I don't know if she'll roll the want in time. By the end of the week, both Emily and Ty were children, with Emily nearing teenhood.
They worked Lei Fleur for two days, maintaining rank 10, and worked Wheeler Stadium the other three days, ranking it up to level 9. Though they made enough income to sustain them, as well as furnish bedrooms for the kids, they're not making nearly enough to keep up with their tax debt.
Taxes totaled $17,646.00, of which they could only pay $5,000.00. The rest was added to their previous debt and incurred a penalty. Total community funds are now $115,413.00.

Ivy Kekahi and girlfriend Kaylynn Spitzig moved in with the Lane sisters at the end of last week. Upon entering the household, Kaylynn immediately rolled the wants to get engaged and then married to Ivy, followed by the want to adopt a child. I had Kaylynn take Ivy's last name, mostly because I want to bury Ivy beside her late husband Kalen and I wanted them to continue having the same last name. I figured after Ivy died, Kaylynn would probably remarry anyway. Consequently, the toddler boy they adopted (Blair) has the last name Kekahi, even though he's not really related to the Kekahi clan. Blair became a child by the end of the week.
Kaylynn took over Ticket to Ride from Maya and got it to rank 5. Mckenna ranked Dance With Me up to 7 and got promoted to Flamenco Dancer as well. Maya continued to work in Business, which she topped last week.
All three of the older women were the same age, so they had the glitch that caused all their life bars to display as identical. I didn't know which one/ones were going to die, but I knew at least one was near the end. As it turned out, both Maya and Ivy died at age 66. Mckenna's bar reset and she's a little past halfway, so she's got a while yet. Kaylynn wants to find love again and by the end of the week she'd fallen in crush with Joe Carr, so she'll be pursuing that more next week.
Taxes were $8,516.00, bringing the total to $109,463.00.

Ian Kekahi should teach lessons to the other Family sims in Kahua because he is a textbook Family sim if I ever saw one. He grew up on Monday, reconnected with Carolina on Tuesday (during Megan's birthday party), immediately rolled the want to get engaged to her, and followed it up with the immediate want to get married to her. I had them wait until Sunday to married, however, since Carolina had already been played this round. I did let her age on Sunday though, since she was a day behind age-wise after a glitch that occurred during her first birthday. As soon as the vows were done, Ian rolled the want for a baby. They tried, but were not successful and will need to try again next week.
Megan worked a little more slowly, given that she didn't have any real prospects upon aging up. She narrowed it down to just two by the end of the week and then, in a surprising turn of events, started crushing on the guy (Troy Go) who I thought was the underdog. Hopefully their relationship will progress next week.
On the business/job front, Randy got promoted to Captain Hero via a fortuitous chance card, Ian got Kahua Junction up to rank 9, and Megan decided to open Kahua Island's first club - Flamingo. I decided on a club for several reasons: 1) Megan's LTW is for Entertainment, which isn't currently available, 2) her hobby is cuisine, but we've already got several restaurants/food stands, and 3) opening a club would unlock a position in Slacker, as well as one in Architecture for being the 40th total lot. Flamingo is the first business to be located in Wahi Hana, the Business District, as well so it's pretty exciting all around. Though Megan earned a substantial amount of money running Flamingo, it didn't earn even a single star for some reason. Hopefully that will change next round.
Their taxes were $10,140.00, making the total $100,947.00.

Robert Centowski ran Hulu a Lomi on Monday and My Two Cents on Friday. He didn't make a ton of money, but he's comfortable enough that he could spend the rest of the week enjoying a life of leisure. By Friday, however, he still had not rolled a single want to progress his relationship with Gretchen, so I sent them on a date. Finally, right before the date ended, he rolled the want to get married, which I locked in immediately. They celebrated their wedding on Saturday, making Gretchen an official Centowski now. No baby wants yet, but maybe next week?
In other news, since I couldn't figure out what to do with Gretchen, I decided that I'd have Robert look for a job in Athletic (since his hobby is sports) and if he finds one before he becomes an elder, I'll have him transfer Hulu a Lomi over to Gretchen and then just take days off in order to run the flea market on Fridays. That might not ever come to pass, however, as Robert was not able to find the job this week and he'll be an elder by mid-week next time. We'll see what happens.
Taxes were $9,265.00, bringing the total to $90,807.00.
No changes to stats or careers. Up next, the Kekahi/London household. Happy Simming!

It was another quiet weed for the Collins, though they did both surprise me by having simultaneous wants for a baby when I entered the household. I was more than happy to oblige, but I was a little disappointed that their son, Asher, did not inherit his mother's green skin. He's cute anyway. Asher grew into a toddler by the end of the week.
Dakota got promoted twice (I think), but demoted once as well, so it kind of evened out. Ethan got Nani Ke Ola to rank 8 by the end of the week.
Their taxes were $5,752.00, bringing the total to $81,542.00.

Jackson Kekahi maintained the status quo in everything he did this week. He ran The Snack Shack and The Big Cheese with Brittany's help, keeping them at rank 10 and rank 5, respectively. He had to hire a new hostess for The Snack Shack, since Lindsay quit when she moved in with Jackson's cousin Jordan. Jackson also made no move to further his relationship with Brittany, so they remain unmarried and childless.
Eli, however, finally made a choice between his two lady loves. He fell in love with Ivy Copur and they had a mid-week wedding, since they both had to work on the weekend. Ivy is now Ivy Kekahi, just like the other former Ivy Copur. Funny how that worked out. Ivy's LTW is not doable, so I kept her in her Culinary job, since she was pretty high up the ladder already. By the end of the week, she was promoted to Celebrity Chef. Eli earned several promotions as well in Science. At the end of the week, the couple moved out to find their own place, where I hope Eli will start behaving like a proper Family sim and start rolling baby wants.
Their taxes were $9,705.00, bringing the total to $75,790.00.

It took a looonnng time to play the Hastings family this round because I decided to let Olivia go ahead and open up four new businesses in an effort to complete her LTW of 5 Top Businesses. I think I mentioned before that three of her businesses would be food stalls that are conveniently located across the street from Wheeler Stadium. The first is called Wok Star (a name I shamelessly borrowed from the tv show "Victorious"); it's Asian themed, obviously. The second is a flapjack stand called Moose Tracks and the third is a 50's diner themed place called Sandy's. Olivia got these "restaurants" up to ranks 1, 2, and 1, respectively and then opened her fourth new business: Now Tea This, which is a coffee/tea shop, that also has a space dedicated to mahjong. She got that shop up to rank 1 as well. I also had her spend one day running Crescendo, which had fallen below rank 10 again. That was quickly remedied and I noticed that she got a second memory for having a rank 10 business, so honestly she probably didn't need to open any new businesses at all. She could have just neglected Crescendo, then brought it back up to 10 a few more times. Oh well, it's more fun this way, right?
Wyatt and Cathy continued running the fish market, getting it to rank 5 (nearly 6) this week. Though Wyatt could have taken a job in Oceanography (his LTW) now that I've built the public beach and he has his gold fishing badge, I decided that he's too old to start a new career and should probably just continue to focus on his shop instead. Hunter finally achieved his final promotion in Law Enforcement and is now Captain Hero. Emma did not have as much luck in the Athletic career, scoring a promotion, but then a demotion and ending the week in the same place she started. Carolina (who grew up on Monday) spent the entire week searching for a job in Criminal, but didn't find one until the very last morning.
Romantically, both Emma and Olivia fell in love with their significant others. At the end of the week, they moved their beaus in and then moved out with them (separately). I plan to hold off moving them into lots just yet because I can't remember if Daniel Drew is close to the end of his life and if he dies this week, one couple could take over his house, rather than building a new one. In addition to all of that, baby Dallas grew into a toddler and then a child by the end of the week.
With all the new businesses, their taxes were a staggering $18,200.00, bringing the community total to $66,085.00. I may have enough to finally build the school, if this keeps up.
